Philosophy

To do more and to choose the more loving option.

This comes from the Ignatian concept called 'magis' which is a Latin word that means 'more' or 'greater'. Throughout my life, I've come to realize that I won't be where I am today, if it wasn't for the support, guidance and genuine love I was given by the people around me. Since then, I have been moving forward, striving to do more than what is expected of me. I'm always willing to offer and give more in any way I can, especially if it brings with it a positive impact to society. And in making decisions, it's almost always more difficult to choose the more loving option. But that is what I will opt for.

Work Experience

Fullstack Developer (Back-end Focus)

LabX Media Group, Midland, ON

As a Full Stack Developer at LabX Media Group, I focused primarily on back-end development while also contributing to various projects and brands within the company. I also worked on front-end internal-facing UI as needed. I consistently delivered new features by designing and updating data models, creating API endpoints, and enhancing user-facing applications. Additionally, I completed multiple ETL data projects involving content migration and data manipulation through scripting and manual processes. Many things change all the time, and so does tech adoption in our company. This meant that I had to learn and keep learning new technologies and implement them into our tech stack to meet stakeholder requirements. As an example, I recently learned how to use and integrate C# into our backend infrastructure as an effort to improve the efficiency and scalability of our backend infrastructure. These efforts ensured efficient and effective contributions to the team's success.

2021-Present

Fullstack Developer / Project Lead

Backr.ai, Kingston, ON

At Backr, I worked on various projects but I mainly led the development of the Backr Shopify application which will be used to add value to our customers by creating meaningful analytics on their Shopify data. I read up on various Shopify API documentation and figure out a way to develop an app that can integrate their data to our infrastructure. I also had to keep learning about new technologies which I applied right away in an effort to make it the best product out there for our clients.

2020-2021

Fullstack Engineer / VP for Technology

Led the development of the TPC inventory storage application with a small team of very talented fullstack developers (all freelance). We were able to release a working version of the app after one sprint that lasted three weeks. Those first three weeks involved designing the UI, the database ERD, the backend architecture, and deployment to multiple cloud services. I'm currently still managing the product to implement improvements based on user feedback and to implement new features moving forward.

2020-2021

Project Manager and Database Support (MARKETING)

My main task to build a small database with an accompanying dashboard and UI from scratch, using MS Access, which I've never used before. I've had knowledge of various other databases as well as experience with building dashboards so the challenge was to build something using new tools I've never used before.

In this project, I had to act as the Project Manager, Product Specialist, Database Architect and Developer. Through continuous feedback from my Director and his team, I've been able to build the product, iterate and improve it multiple times to fit their needs. In the end, the project was successful (but not without failures) and I was even able to add continuity to the product by creating documentation for maintenance.

2019-2020

Project Analyst/Tier-1 Technical Support (Virtual Agent / Chatbots)

[24]7.ai, Toronto

Had the opportunity to work with very talented people within the Virtual Agent / Chatbot space. Managed the VA / Chatbot product and knowledge base for various complex client projects from different industries including banks (RBC, CIBC and BMO), healthcare, hospitality and education. I learned how to build and design products that really focuses on the users, and how they can self-serve themselves with the use of very efficient and effective chatbots.

During my time here, I also led and completed a project to build a brand new client-facing dashboard together with a teammate. We worked together on making the reports more effective for clients, while making the report-building process much more efficient for our teammates as well, saving time and money for the company along the way.

2015-2017

Production Operator/Production Specialist

Woodbridge Foam Corporation, Woodbridge, Vaughan

Started as a production line worker which was the worst fit for me, as I am someone who always wants to create something that can help make anything better. With enough perseverance, I was given an opportunity to design a system using MS Excel and macros that would improve internal processes, which ultimately improved production numbers for the company.

NASA Daily fun stuff

I am a huge fan of the universe! Just like life, it has so many unknown elements to it that we can never really understand its true nature. But what we can do is to take responsibility, become accountable and make choices in our search for truth.

VR Learning Mini Publication

Learn2Learn Design Charette by GBC and Deloitte Digital - June 2020

  • This initiative has been fostered out of a burgeoning partnership between the School of Design at George Brown College and Deloitte Digital.
  • The focus of the “Learn to Learn” Charrette is to tackle education’s most pressing problem—how to help students and graduates learn more effectively (and safely) as the economy recovers/thrives. Taking a multi-disciplinary and human-centered design approach, the Charrette explores thematics of relationships and collaboration, accessibility, resource management, adapting applied learning environments, mental fatigue, and lifelong learning.
  • For this challenge, we were tasked to create a design solution for the problem above. We did extensive primary and secondary research, created matrices to visualize our research, created ecosystem maps and user personas, and detailed our solution.
  • Authored with rising star designer, Saya Kim! Check out her majestic work! Would never have made it without her and her debater personality!
  • Explore the publication!
  • By the way, we took home the top prize for this competition! 🏆🏆🏆

Never The Strangers

My Past Life with Music - 2012

  • I want to give a shoutout to my previous life and best friends! Never the Strangers was a band that my friends and I formed because of our common love and passion for making music. This was our side hustle back when we were still in university and turned out to become a viable path as a career for my friends. I left them in 2012 but the memories I've made during my time with them is something that will remain with me forever. This has been one of the best things that happened to us, and I am very blessed to have experienced this in my lifetime!
  • Never the Strangers first album playlist!
  • What does NTS look like today?
  • Shoutout to the mastermind, the amazing Ace Libre and beast drummer Nash Ignacio! They are still currently going at it, living and fighting for the dream. These guys made it possible for me to know what it feels like to achieve your dreams.

Our debut song and music video which introduced us to the Philippine Music industry!

Out most popular song, which became an anthem for young and innocent love. It was featured in a commercial that was broadcast nationwide!

A favourite tune for many!

Collabs with Other Artists

Music / Production / Art

  • I occasionally still love making music, so I regularly find ways to work with others and create music!

Title: Now
Artists: Ace Libre, Pao dela Cruz, Francis Victa
Description: I wrote the song and melody while my friends helped me with recording the vocal tracks! It's a catchy tune with a message that focuses on love in the moment.

Title: Always There
Artists: Various Artists!
Description: This song was composed by a large number of people during a Zoom songwriting session. The song is about knowing that God will always be there, even amidst great tragedies, such as the Coronavirus Pandemic. I helped out building the bridge and structure of the song, and also mixed and mastered the track.

Production: Living Room Sessions Toronto
Description: This is a small production I cofounded with my musician friends. We called it Living Room Sessions Toronto. Here, we invite our musician friends to perform live sets of their original compositions and play it with strangers they've never met before! All types of artists: designers, videographers and photographers, helped out in decorating the event and making it look amazing! Such a great way to share music!

Heart of a Champion

Competition - teamwork - discipline - commitment - excellence

  • I am just very blessed and proud to be able experience small wins through league championships. I love being in a team, and working towards a common goal. I love giving it my all, preparing and making myself ready for anything, just to be able to help the team win. To me, having a heart of a champion means understanding what it takes to win, dedicating myself to becoming better everyday and giving it my all. EVERY. SINGLE. OPPORTUNITY. These may seem like small insignificant wins in the bigger scheme of things, but I know that the heart of a champion lies within me. That's all I need to get to where I want to be in life.
